Edinburgh 2010

Right!

A few of us at this years meat'n'beet were thinking of different ways to make the DoD evan bettar.

For Edinburgh, at least, August is good month to do the DoD due to the various Festivals. Flyers, Posters and such are completely expected, and on a massive scale (of course, that means ours kinda get lost in the background noise). Weirdness is a must. Fun can be had even if we Discordians and assorted other Superior Mutants don't do Discordian stuff.

On the other hand, and this is major bummer, August is ALWAYS the most expensive time to travel anywhere and in Edinburgh in particular. Accommodation is a real bastard to find cause the city pretty much DOUBLES its population in and around August time, and those bastards are totally not above jacking the prices right the fuck up for it too.

There are pros and cons, but having done two DoD's in August now, I think the cons outweigh anything else.

We need suggestions for a new date (I'm up for mid- to late-June, btw. Good enough weather, and while it'll be busy it won't be August busy). In particular we need to find a way to get more people to show up. While we have had a steady increase of people showing over the last three years, more than five would be good. The more people, the more ambitious we can be with some of our plans (both mindfucks and accommodation).

Another thing to consider is getting some quality material for it in advance. Syn's posters this year were class, and so was a lot of the other material we collected, but there was little in the way of any kind of grand "theme" for it. We might as well try to append at least the URL to this forum there, and some instructional literature.

Your suggestions here please!

I heareby commit AGREEETHNESS on the Paynes worderage! :horrorfap:

Mid May to mid June is a good ball-park to go for at the moment. We'll pin it down later.
I'm shocked someone did not recognize Rev. St. Synaptyx KSC win and mittens! It is a well known fact in discordian cabals. Ask anyone! What would possess someone to deny this fact? While the win-content is obvious enough, the mitten-amount is unmistakably high, we're talking glowing mittens here, even full blown leather driving gloves! I can only guess that the revert had to do with "Grand High Benevolent Polyfather Grand Capitalist of the POEE (UK & Northern Europe)"? It is correct that Rev. St. Synaptyx KSC is only Grand High Benevolent Polyfather Grand Capitalist of POEE for the UK, but he IS Grand High Benevolent Head Organist and Polybrother of POEE for the entire eurasian continent!

Yes.

We need a concentrated effort to get peeps to show up. if we get like, I dunno, TEN! then we can do some truly fucked up projects. I'mma start ranting about that shit in IRC and on PD methinks.

Also, people have always asked why this isn't in May already anyway. Moar "Discordian" or some shit. May would be good cause then I wouldn't have to buy lunch - I could just eat the pinealists that show up.

Build a gradual incline between Hull and Edinburgh and at the very least I can get in a shopping trolley and veer off into a hedge after 10 metres.

Seriously though, I'm crap for saying I'll come along for the last two years and never making it, but May or June are much easier than August.

we need more wimminz to turn up!

I'm up for any time between May and August really.

as for themes.. Bad Panda Picnic?
Listen up all you skagheads, sewer rats, gangsters
Villains and whores, the dark figures from the shadows
Crept up from behind where they brandished a gun
Pointed it directly at her face
And they shuddered at the sight when the words were spoken
"Go ahead son but you're making a big mistake"
As the coolness of the night reflected off the cobblestone roads
And silence took over, she said...
"Do you know who the fuck I am?"

I will come in 2010, only if you can gather the necessary ritual items to summon me.

The ritual items are 12 virgins, some heated oils...

Hmm... or that may have been the ingredients to make me cum in 2010...
I wish people would label these occult books better  :horrorfap:

This would not please me. When drunk, you can ignore 4 guys staring at your bewbs, another five would be hard.

However all being a bunch of attatched or on best behaviour guys, they were subtle about the bewb staring, and utter gents.

I will now post a date, and you guys can tell me why it's impossible to do it.

June 12th (Saturday), 12 noon at the Scott Monument in Princes Street gardens, Edinburgh. Running until whenever.

What do you think?

as Payne's girlfriend and resident mental health case I think I'm duty bound to attend whenever it occurs unless the state decide I need a medical or they finally pull collective fingers out of asses and I have to see a shrink.

I BOOKED MY FLIGHT TODAY!

17e Bremen to Edinburgh + 8e back + 2x5e random Ryan Air administration costs = 35 euros whoooooo :D

Now to book a middle-of-the-fucking-night return ticket to Bremen Airport (which is actually not in Bremen) for 30 euros and I'm DONE!

65 euro = Cheapest DoD tickets EVAR :D :D

oh and something like 3 pound for the bus from Edinburgh Airport to the Black Scottish Alien Mothership Disguised As A "Monument" (I know better ...)

So, this is my flight:

GOING OUT
From Bremen (BRE) to Edinburgh (EDI)
Fri, 11Jun10 Flight FR3647 Depart BRE at 09:20 and arrive EDI at 09:55
COMING BACK
From Edinburgh (EDI) to Bremen (BRE)
Mon, 14Jun10 Flight FR3648 Depart EDI at 06:20 and arrive BRE at 08:55

I'm going to contact Pim+Marlous my friends from DoD'08 and check if I can stay at their place, because that would be totally sweet since they live in Edinburgh and I sort of remember how the busses go from their district.

And otherrrrrwise ... Maybe I can stay at Syn's again please? :-D

My gf has forbidden me to sleep under cricket stadiums again.

Okay that's cool. I'm arriving late Thursday. You have my number still I believe.

Payne's internets has died so if any of you want to get hold of him and his number for the meetup PM me on peedee.

Also asking others who is up for me making some food for a picnic in return for bribing me and Payne with beer.

I make awesome picnic food, salad and sandwiches.

Let me know what you can't or won't eat and any preferences. I have a coolbag and a plastic picnic plate set.

So it has been set?

Or has it been left for the jelly monster to decide?

12 behind Edinburgh's own giant finger.
